Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you use a “heavy” oil like castor? And why jojoba?
I credit castor oil & jojoba oil to my skin’s repair - I used to have horrible acne since I was 12 years old, and nothing seemed to help. I started using a baking soda & hydrogen peroxide paste mixture 2/3 times a week, and by golly, that cleared up the really bad stuff. Then, I struggled for a few more years before I started using and making my own mixture of castor, jojoba & essential oils. This all came about the same time I discovered magnesium oil spray for leg cramps, and its history from there. Castor oil is a phenomenal carrier oil, but it’s also an anti-inflammatory. In & of itself, it is great, but with the added power of the essential oils and the balancing effect of jojoba, it’s been a match made in heaven for me. Jojoba oil can help balance out the oils in your skin, the sebum, and for me, it has done just that. It rates low on the comedogenic scale, everyone’s skin is different - but this stuff is gold (quite literally).
does magnesium really help you sleep?
For me, no, it does not knock me out. Rather, it puts my muscles and mind in a more relaxed state, so sleep comes a little easier for me with it. Some people, however, will always start yawning shortly after. Each body & mind is different, never hurts to try something that has more than one benefit! Magnesium is a vital mineral, playing a crucial role in over 300 bodily functions, including muscle and nerve function, blood sugar regulation, and blood pressure control. It's also essential for energy production, protein synthesis, and maintaining strong bones. Great for before bed on lower limbs, belly button and chest to help with sleep. This cream can be used on sensitive skin, like toddlers, the moisturizing tallow/jojoba/castor oil helps cancel out itchiness from the magnesium.
